Match Reports

30th Nov -  Woodloes Jrs   2 - 1   Triumph  (Ellys)

MOM Liam Green

Playing A league opposition in the 2nd round of the cup this tie was going to be tough from the off, We started off really showing to much respect to the home side, They were a more physical side and ultimately created more in the final third, Woodloes went one nil up on 20 min's with a good move down the right and they doubled their tally 5 min's from half time from a poorly marked corner.

Our half time team talk did the trick, we upped our work rate 200% and everyone got stuck in, we were a constant menace to their back line creating 2 or 3 one on ones but failing to convert, We finally scored from a corner whipped in, Greeny rising like a salmon as usual flicking the ball on then there was Ellys to tap home from a couple of yards. A goal more than deserved. The game was played out in there half mostly but unfortunately we didn't score to take it to extra time.

I have to mention the performance of both full backs which was the main reason for our possession in the 2nd half, Josh Payne let nothing past him and quickly got the ball moving forward again each time Woodloes went down the left and Reece Suddick playing left back marked their danger man right out of the game and when needed put his head in when it mattered well done you two, Man of the match went to Liam Green who's work rate in the middle of the park was phenomenal.

2nd Nov -   London Rd  2 - 2  Triumph

In a game of two halves really, due to the strong wind and hill, we started brightly with a hand full of chances, but not making their keeper work, shooting high and wide until we won a corner 25 minutes in, brilliantly whipped in by Alex T, the ball eventually falling to Tom who smashed a shot which the keeper some how saved but could only parry to the ever waiting Fishy who scored 1 - 0. Five minutes later they equalised from a mistake in our midfield which led to a one on one with our stand in keeper Tre, who got a hand on it but was not enough. Then one minute after that Tom Rush chased a lost ball down the right and hooked in a looping cross the eventually went straight in 2 - 1.

In the 2nd half as expected we defended for 90% of the time but did keep the ball out of the net until 9 min's from time, when a fluke goal bouncing over the keepers head went in 2 - 2, Then with 5 minutes to go they had a counter attack and their centre forward only had our keeper to beat, he did everything right shooting low and hard into the corner, when Tre at full stretched turned the ball around the post with his feet and kept us the point, which topped off his man of the match performance. Good performances from Kallon Cheesman and Jack Howarth both doing well on the back foot to ensure that point.

26th Oct -   Triumph   0 - 2   Brinklow

On our first game at our new ground the game got off to a even start for both teams, an end to end match played at a high tempo. Kallon was unlucky to rattle the cross bar from a 25yard free kick then 10 minutes later Ellys broke through and hit the post, We conceded towards the end of the first half from a corner headed firmly home. The 2nd half was a lot like the first apart from we didn't create as many chances in front of goal, We went 2 -0 down with 15 minutes to go, Then we chased the game playing 3 at the back but to no real affect. Good performances from the back four; Reece, Jack, Matty Cooke and Josh with Reece pipping the other 3 to the man of the match.

19th Oct -   Coventrians   1 - 3   Triumph

Playing against a very strong wind in the first half we had to defend for a lot of the period, doing a great job in difficult conditions. We looked very good going forward, breaking away a few times down the right wing, but failed to convert a hat full of chances in the first half hour, until Alex Taylor scored in the 32nd minute with his well known left peg. Then what happened next was truly OUTRAGOUS. From their KO from our goal Liam Greene intercepted a pass from their attackers and went on a Maradona type run Argentina v England 1986 and beat 6 of their players all on his own without any of our players touching the ball and smashed home from about 15 yards. A goal of shear individual quality but well deserved for the effort he puts into his game and the team. The second half was a lot more organised from a team point of view with the wind behind us, playing some good football, but lacked a bit with the final through pass being over hit most of the time. Alex Taylor scored his second of the game with an Eusebio type volley chipping the ball over the full backs head and volleying in. That goal alone would have been worthy of goal of the month but Greenys won goal of the decade. Coventrians scored with a few minutes to go, so a good 3 - 1 win.

12th Oct -   Bourton & Frankton   0 - 9  Triumph

Finally we get our season started with an away win to Bourton and Francton, playing 3 at the back and packing the midfield, we got off to a strong start with a low driven shot into the bottom right hand corner by Tom Rush, Liam Green was a constant menace to their defence and was rewarded with a great individual goal half way through the 1st period, then we scored probably the best goal I have ever seen us score, Reece and Greeny linked well down the left threading a thru ball to Tom who checked his run down the line and fired in a peach of a cross as Fishy ghosted into the box from midfield Lampard style and volleyed home 3 -0 GREAT GOAL BOYS.

The 2nd half was a bit of a goal fest, Ellys using his pace twice to score one on ones, Fishy doubled his tally for the day and Keano ending his mornings work with a goal down the right flank, Massive congrats to Matty Cooke and Reece Suddick who scored their first goals under me, both fully deserved. Apparently there has been a big increase of Telegraph sales in the Mount Nod area, but Reece is denying all knowledge of this he said his name has been in the paper before :-) ........Adam
