Match Reports

Sat 22nd May -  Triumph U7's   Vs   Athletic U7's

Triumphs unbeaten run against same age opposition continued with a great game against new starters Athletic Utd.

This was Athletics first proper game as they have been training together for a while now & wanted some experience at a 7 aside game.

The game started with a flurry of hard tackles as the excitable Athletic kids chased every ball with purpose. Triumph got to grips with this after about 10 minutes & took control with some good interplay up front.

It was clear that Triumph had played a few games more as their shape was a little more organised but to the away teams credit they never gave up on anything all game.

Triumphs goals came in the 2nd half & third period with the pick of them being our goalkeeper Owen “Ojo” Suddick beating his man & cutting in from the left to slot a nice neat finish into the far post corner of the net hence his Drogba style celebration as he ran over to the corner flag but when he got there he realised we didn’t have any lol.

A good game with Athletic proving they will be a hard side to play against & their kids played with lots of enthusiasm & effort.

Hope to play them again soon.

MOM / Harvey…….wonderful dribbling with skill & tricks on the left side of midfield, your best game yet.

Well done boys.

Sat 15th May -  Triumph   Vs   CTK U7's

The 7s carried on there impressive improvement against a spirited Kings outfit. The scorers were Sonny (2) & Elliott with a rare goal.

Sat 24th April -  Whitley  Vs  Triumph

The little ones played away at Whitley on a pitch that can only be described at best…….sloapy. By this I mean that the slope went down hill from one side of the pitch to the other where the normal ones are from one end of the pitch to the other. The Whitley boys were again bigger & stronger but technically not superior so we gave them a good game and with a bit of luck & a better pitch would have scored a few goals. The score was very close until the last 5 minutes when Owen had to come out so we had no goalkeeper as they ran in 2 soft efforts late on. Good effort though from the boys.

Sat 17th April -    Triumph   Vs  Chaps Crusaders

Mini Stags win at last

The weekend belongs to the little Stags as they won their first ever game at U8s beating Chaps Crusaders U8s with only 7 players.

The U7s enjoyed a great week as they went unbeaten in two games over the last week to ensure their improvement continues. It just shows when they play kids of the same size they are looking a good team. Sonny parsons scored twice to ensure the game went Triumphs way & Owe Suddick produced two brilliant saves again to keep the score in our favour. Although Chaps put Triumph under some pressure the keeper stood firm until Chaps pulled one back near the end.

Triumph deserved their win & lets hope we see more of it.

The mini Stags drew 3 -3 with Coventry Saracens in a great game which went from end to end. The Stags thought they had won again but Saracens scored direct from a corner to take a deserved draw from the game. Well done to all this week.

Sat 27th March -    Triumph    Vs  Coundon Cockerels

The 7s had to switch their game this week due to the weather & put in a lively performance against Cockerels who like so many U8 sides were too strong & too big for our lads.

Their efforts go unrewarded at the moment but that will change in the near future.

Another good performance from Ojo in goal, who made one world class save (for a 6 year old lol) in the first half when we all thought the kid had hit it wide.

And some great defending from Flynn who tackled as if his life depended on it.

The man of the match went to Charlie who is growing in confidence after taking the game up only a year ago.

Well done boys.

Sat 20th March -    Cov Copsewood  Vs  Triumph

The U7s travelled to play a very strong Cov Copsewood & they didn’t let us down by battling very hard & getting a deserved goal through Nathanial who lobbed the keeper for the goal of the game.

We are a fair way behind Copsewood in terms of ability & speed of thought but it won’t be long if we continue to learn quickly before we start to get near them.

Copsewood scored some great goals & were the better football team but the boys really enjoyed the game.

MOM / Owen “O Jo” Suddick (Goalkeeper) Outstanding saves from a talented young goalkeeper!!

Sat 6th Feb -    CTK  Vs  Triumph

The 7s played Christ the King Saturday & did very well again in the 1st half & nearly went in level but in the 2nd half they faded away with Kings scoring a few more but a very good performance. We are getting better every week even though we are not playing many games due to the weather.

Sat 28th November   Leamington Hibs Thistle  Vs  Triumph

The U7s were beaten at Leamington Hibs Thistle but with 6 players missing they gave it ago as the two teams played with 6 boys a piece. The Hibs players were again older & bigger but Triumph matched them all the way scoring an Equaliser through the goal scoring machine Adam Wade…..what a finish. They tired near the break & conceded more goals to go in behind at the break.

The 2nd half saw both teams create chances but Hibs took all of theirs to make the score line very unflattering but that’s the way it is going at the moment. They were superb in the 1st half & a special mention to Ojo Suddick who deputised in goal for the missing Nathanial & produced 4 outstanding saves which was great to watch.

Well done boys….great stuff.

Sat 14th November   Stratford  Vs  Triumph

The U7s travelled to Stratford on Saturday to play in the wind & rain & put in their worst performance of the season. We never got going & never threatened the Stratford goal & to my annoyance & embarrassment we are fast becoming the whipping boys of this age group which is unacceptable. We are not strong enough in the last 3rd or the defensive line, where we are shipping goals left right & centre. Tackling & clearing our lines has become the biggest problem at the moment. It would be fair to say that Stratford were the weakest team we have played this season but they dominated us from start to finish.

We are superb in training where we are improving in passing the ball & finish well but can’t seem to take it into the games. We are admittedly missing one of our most influential players & have missed him all season but even he won’t be able to carry the team on his own & we need to start thinking about where we should be on the pitch when the opposition have the ball. I’m certain we will be a good side in 12 months but I would have liked to have seen us score more goals. We have only scored 2 goals all season which is hugely disappointing.

My report may seem a little harsh on the kids but to their credit, they never give up & they are enjoying it immensely & never complain, but it will hit them soon that everyone they play will expect to win & as much as winning can become a habit so does losing. So we are going to have to improve quickly or go the whole season without a win which would be disappointing for them.

We entertain C.T.K Blue on Saturday & I will expect an improved performance. I think we will get it.

Sat 17th October   CTK  Vs  Triumph

The U7s were well beaten again at C.T.K. We had several players missing including our keeper which meant we had to put one of the outfield players in. We started off ok & looked in no trouble but seemed a little of the pace as the game wore on. Kings scored 2 great goals that no keeper would have saved but the rest were again down to the physical ability of the older kids.

Another good run out for the lads & they are improving in training every week.

Sat 26th September    Triumph  Vs  Cov Jag

The U7s played a home game against Cov Jag on Saturday & really competed well but again came up against a stronger outfit & were well beaten. This was their 2nd game in less than 15 hours, as they played Chapelfield Colts U7s & drew in a game that Triumph had most of the play & should have won comfortably, but couldn’t score that important 2nd goal.

Two great run outs for the boys again. Well done.

Sat 19th September    Brinklow  Vs  Triumph

The U7s were well beaten by Brinklows 1st team in an away fixture. Some of there boys were excellent & obviously way ahead in terms of positioning & all round ability. Once again they must learn from this & start to compete with much bigger & stronger boys week in & week out. There were no scorers again this week as the chances are not coming at the moment.

We are missing Sonny Parsons as he is a capable player & possesses the ability of going past players & getting some goals. Hopefully he will be back soon. Well done to the boys for sticking with it & im sure with time they will start to get a lot better.

Well done lads.

Sat 12th September    Triumph  Vs  Sphinx

The U7s lost to Coventry Sphinx but did not disgrace themselves & they really enjoyed it. They battled well against a bigger team who had one lad that looked like he wouldn’t be out of place in my older lot.

They will get used to that this season & then hopefully next season they will be ready for most teams.

Good game though.

Well what can I say about this game!!! Unbelievable. The mini Stags continued there friendly tour with a game against the one of the most productive assembly lines in Coventry football……Coundon Court. With Coundon's impressive boot clubs they have a lot of boys & girls to choose from when it comes to setting up teams at every age group so we knew they would have players that were comfortable with the ball. We were not disappointed as Coundon raced into a 3 goal lead after the first period & looked very lively all over the park & although Adam pulled one back with a superb finish they were playing catch up already. The Stags on the other hand looked as if they were still waking up, allowing Coundon lots of space to play some excellent football & they deserved their lead at the break. And some of the celebrations were hilarious.

The next half was end to end as both teams broke away from each other to try & score & again it was Coundon who took their chances with some good finishing to lead 5 – 1 at the halfway stage. At this point we decided to sit the boys down & get them to think about what they have done in training as our shape had gone completely. They listened very well & we decided to put the extra man into midfield which paid dividends as the Stags ran riot over the next 2 halves scoring 7 goals ….yes….7 goals which left manager Steve King speechless….for once.

The scorers were Sam who hit a fantastic four goals & Sonny who’s 1st goal out of his two was a quality finish for a lad of his age, Flynn who ran his socks off again got in on the act & everyone of them worked really hard & never gave up which is a quality you cannot learn.

It was a fantastic game of football for all who saw it & a credit to both sides in the appalling weather as well. Thanks to Coundon for having us & we look forward to meeting them again in the near future.

Cheers

Steve King

Just a short footnote to Steve's report, from the other camp!  As the web site man for Triumph I had a foot in both camps for the game, as my son plays for the Coundon Court U6's, the game was great fun, the boys loved every minute of it, and was Coundons first ever game, which made it even better to be playing against Triumph.

Cheers

Mark

Norton Lindsey U6's   4 – 1 Triumph Athletic  (Friendly Match)

(4 set of 10 min played)     Scorer / Adam (Great finish mate)

The mini Stags travelled up the M42 to play Norton Lindsey in only there 3rd game & played very well again only to end up on the wrong side of a 4 – 1 defeat. They didn’t deserve to lose!! A draw would off reflected the amount of chances they created only to be denied by the post & a penalty that was not given but should have been. Norton Lindsey impressed with 2 of there players having excellent games & those 2 players made the difference in there finishing of the 4th half. The game had been really close in the 1st 3 but the Stags tired as we never had any subs to give the others a rest. A great finish by Adam to make it 1-1 in the 2nd half & some good performances by all the lads in a game they were always in until the last 5 minutes.

Well done to everyone again.

MOM / Owen Suddick……All round good performances outfield with some great tackling & carrying of the ball & in goal, some great saves. Well done mate. Let’s see some more of it!!

Southam Utd 1 – 3 Triumph Athletic  (Friendly Match)

Scorers / Sonny Parsons (3) Hat-trick

The U6s started the ball rolling with a fun packed game at Southam Utd winning 3-1 with Triumph scoring all 4 goals. MOM Sonny Parsons scored a superb hat rick with his third goal being the pick. He cut in from the right wing to send a hard low shot past the keeper to make it 3 – 1 to the Mini Stags.

In between this he had opened the scoring after 5 minutes but then on the break Southam equalized with Sonny chasing back & clearing the ball past the hapless Owen “O JO” Suddick who could do nothing but watch it fly past him. Great shot though!!! Triumph dominated most of the possession as Southam had there chances but couldn’t break down the defence of Triumph.

Everybody had a great time & played very well with Flynn chasing & tackling everything that moved & Elliott showing some great skill on the ball. Well done to everyone who played.

A special thanks to Southam Utd who made all of us very welcome & were worthy opponents.

Westwood Utd U's (3) 6 – 0 (0) Triumph Athletic U6's (Friendly Match)

This was the 1st game for the minnows as they had to rearrange a fixture as Whitley couldn’t commit to the one arranged. Westwood kindly offered to give us a game but they only had an older team 1 year above our boys. They were superb & loved every minute of it. They battled really hard but the other team had played many more games & knew a little too much for our boys.

They were so proud to wear their new kit in front of the proud parents who came out in numbers to support their kids in there first game for the Stags.

The fact that Westwood had beaten other teams from Under 7 level proves that with some more coaching these kids have a bright future. Some great performances from all the kids but the standouts were Dylan who worked really hard in defence, Sonny who never looked out of place in midfield & Owen & George who made some fantastic saves in their stints in goal. Well done to all the boys who played, especially the new lads who all did very well in their 1st games for the club.

Brilliant
